This saw has a very rare & highly unusual feature, under the handle of most Disston #12s, they stamped an “X” into the plate in the factory, so that the higher quality thinner #12 plates would not get mixed up with their other cheaper brethren, the last thing they wanted was for a #12 plate to go onto a #7 handle! These #12s were the highest quality saw (apart from the Victory saws) that Disston made & to quote from the Disstonian website “The saw is a work of art on a mass-produced scale”. An ornate chip carved applewood handle, brass saw bolts, a blade made out of extra refined London spring steel. Please check the photos as they are part of the description.
