DESCRIPTION: Stunning pair of rare old Capiz shell lampshades on carved monkey pod wood bases. The lamps have a beautiful Hawaiian Tiki, Polynesian or Asian style to them. The urn or jar shape is quite unusual, much like a stained glass piece, with inset pieces of shell and brass, or gold toned metal. They appear to be much older than most capiz lamps, as one still has a much older round style plug, but exact age is unknown. These lamps do light up, but as with all older lighting, we recommend them being re-wired for safety. They appear to have been re-wired at some point, and they were done with the switch on the cord with a loop. SIZE/WEIGHT: Lamps stand 12.75 – about 13 tall, the shades only are 10.75 tall and are about 8 wide, the bases are 6.5 wide. They are not exactly the same size. CONDITION: Beautiful old pre-owned lamps which do light up. The shades have no chips or cracks, and some of the shells have some natural imperfections as one would expect. The brass or gold tone metal has a nice aged patina. The wood bases have no cracks, just a little wear, but the shades are loose on the bases, and look like they may have once been glued as there is a little bit of glue residue. With all older lighting, we recommend them being re-wired for safety. International Buyers – Please Note.
