Welcome to Vintage Tools Melbourne. Antique hand tools – PREMIUM QUALITY saw #158. Up for sale is a legendary Premium Quality Harvey W Peace Model P26 Rip SAW, freshly hand sharpened & set. The 26 saw plate is made from Vulcan Saw Works Cast Steel & is super hard & a medium fine cutting. Graduated rip 6PPI at the toe, 5.5PPI at the heel, with a fully breasted tooth line the handle is chip carved cherry with a gorgeous wheat sheaf design. The handle also features Peaces patented nickel plated brass “Heel guard” on the the bottom thinner section of the handle, it still retains some nickel plate. This saw dates to 1883 through 1895 or thereabouts. This saw has been hand sharpened to 8 degrees of rake with 5 degrees of slope, it cuts just magnificently. This saw is for the woodworker that is happy to work unplugged, you’ll know what I mean when you read this, it’s like fast food vs slow food, it’s getting back to the heart of woodworking & using your hands, not flicking a switch. Size – 26 / 665mm plate. This saw is in authentic vintage restored condition, freshly sharpened & set, scattered pin prick patches of pitting to both sides of the blade, both tips of the horns have been professionally repaired with cherry wood. There are the minor bumps, scrapes & dings to the handle that one would expect with a 110+ year old saw. It’s a lovely medium fine cutting 5.5PPI rip cut saw, ready to go to work for the discerning workshop. Please check the photos as they are part of the description.
