Ok, I received some information from fellow Ebayers who seem to be knowledgeable on the subject of old swords. I will put their descriptions here for you to use. Ebayer #1 described them as follows: French Sword and a British pattern sword with a Moroccan Star. Circa 1890 to WW1. Ebayer #2 describes them as follows: The mulit bar hilt is a French m1882 and the shargreen grip one is a British m1897. The m1897 is the current sword of Britain, Canada, Australia, etc. So it could be a lot more new. The M1882 was likely used in WW1 and the guard is likely nickle/german silver coated so be gentle and don’t use anything abrasive. Both blades are chrome plated and the guard of the m1897 is chromed. They are both officer swords. These swords have been in my family for over 60 years. I got them from my father who was not a collector either. I hope that you are a collector and can appreciate them. They deserve better than just sitting in the corner of the closet. The one sword always had a thin wooden piece in the scabbard. I believe it is to keep the sword more firmly in the scabbard because it is too loose without it. These swords are going to take an extra long box and will have some weight to it.
