OLD Authentic eroded, not damaged DOGON MASK with Superstructure Provenance MALI

Here is a very nice and authentic used Dogon mask from Mali, Africa. There are no breaks or insect damage to this piece but it is fairly eroded from use and age. The face mask itself is tall and thin, polka dotted, with square eyes, “Shrek” ears and blue lips. Crowning the figure is a superstructure carved to represent a seated man with knees up and hands covering his face. “The figures with the face hidden by the hands are images of’Dyougou Serou’ from Dogon mythology, who hides his head in shame”. This splendid, historical mask has a provenance from the Gotham Gallery (LitFung Liu) which states that it is early 20th century, formerly in the collection of Mr. This document will accompany the mask.
