This looks to be a very early Continental tool, fashioned out of elm, the hand forged spoon bit is not removable- an 18th century joiners workshop would have had a large selection of various sizes of this style of brace. Spoon bits can drill at nearly any angle, plus there is no lead spur to break through when drilling say chair spindle sockets. The ruler in the photos is for measurements only, not for sale. This brace is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age and use, about 3-4 worm holes, it’s a gorgeous & early piece, an authentic example of an 18th Century chair makers brace.
