Culturally used old Indonesian mask of unknown type
This is an authentic, old Indonesian mask of uncertain type. It probably dates to the mid-twentieth century. There is some loss of hair and adhesion of the leather. It probably represents Ravana, the demon king, and would be used for the Wayang Wong performance. It is not from Bali and likely comes from one of the smaller Indonesian islands. Materials are wood, leather, iron nails, and horse hair. Dimensions are 10″ x 5.5″ x 4 (not including hair).
