African Kuba raffia cloth, hand woven palm fiber of a cut-loop pile embroidery and flat stitch embroidery, the technique produces what is known as KASAI VELVET panels. These were used as currency and highly prized. This vintage example is an excellent example of the prestige panels made by Congo, Kuba people Shoowa. As is to be expected for this one of a kind woven cloth, of over 70- 90 years, the sides are not straight. BEAUTIFUL Wood frame with Matt display. Please note this piece was acquired framed.
